ECOGOLD sponsors USEA Area 2 Annual Meeting
ECOGOLD sponsored the United States Eventing Association Area 2 Annual Meeting, which took place on Saturday January 22. Our company's president John Da Silva, who is a textile engineer, gave a presentation on how textile innovation can improve the safety and performance of sport horses.
We also attended a lecture from physical therapist Dr Jennie Stone, who explained how riders can prevent injuries and discomfort by working on specific muscles. We will have videos of both lectures soon.
Besides the meetings, various awards were given out at the Awards Luncheon and praticularly interesting were "the Smurfies", a series of non-competitive awards recognizing Adult Amateurs.
The awards are voted on by all the adult riders are a fun way to recognize riders that aren't always winning but contribute nonetheless to the sport by their active participation. There are several categories including "HUG a Smurf" for the Best supporter of Adult Riders, "COWBOY Smurf" Rider dealing with the toughest horse, 'INDIAN Smurf" for positive spirit despite adversity and more.
