Olympic Gold medalist McLain Ward has a record-breaking history. In 1990, and at 14 years of age, Ward became the youngest rider ever to win both the USET Medal Finals and the USET Talent Derby. After graduating to the grand prix circuit, he wasted no time in making a name for himself, becoming the youngest rider to reach the $1 million mark in earnings, and eventually fulfilled his Olympic dream in August 2004 as a part of the Gold medal-winning show jumping team in Athens aboard his stable star, Sapphire. He won another Team Gold medal at the 2008 Olympic Games in Hong Kong.

McLain Ward has represented the US in 5 World Cups, 11 FEI World Cup Show Jumping Finals and numerous Nations Cup competitions. He is one of the most accomplished riders in the US, consistently at or near the top in World FEI rankings.

In 2009, he received the Whitney Stone Cup, awarded annually by the USET Foundation Executive Committee to an active competitor who displays consistent excellence in international competition, high standards of sportsmanlike conduct, while also serving as an ambassador for the United States and equestrian sport.
